Writing Samples

The writing samples below were completed in my Public Relations Writing class at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Each class member was required to create a hypothetical client, mine was Millennial Cruises. The writing samples are written for this client.

News Release

The target audience of this news release are those interested in cruising with Millennial Cruises, vacationers and travelers. The purpose is to inform the target audience of the new Millennial Cruises’ app. This app gives guests access to: reserve activities, on-ship information, mobile check in, things to do, detailed deck plans, useful information and ship itinerary. It is to be communicated through earned media coverage, such as PR publications and social media.

Media
Alert

The target audience for this media alert are reporters, potential and current Millennial Cruises passengers, travelers and vacationers. The purpose is to inform the media about the President and CEO of Millennial Cruises, Terry Smith, speaking about the unveiling of a new ship. As well as festivities that will take place on-ship for the occasion. It is to be communicated across earned media coverage, such as PR publications, social media and print media.

Pitch

The purpose of this pitch is to convince the target audience that cruising is a better alternative for spring break than Florida. These target audiences include, Mia Taylor of Cheapism blog and people who are looking for a fun spring break. The pitch is to be communicated through: the media outlet, Cheapism blog, email, earned media coverage, PR publications and social media.

Sheet

The target audience for this fact sheet are Millennial Cruises’ guests and future guests. The purpose of this fact sheet is to inform the target audience about ship information that is needed to be known for cruising. The fact sheet is to be communicated across the Millennial Cruises’ website.

The target audience for these social media posts are: spring breakers, cruisers, vacationers, potential cruises/vacationers. The purpose for the Instagram and Twitter posts is to influence spring breakers to take a Millennial Cruises' cruise. And the purpose for the Facebook and Pinterest posts is to provide information about the Millennials at Sea app. The communication channels used were Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

The purpose of this blog post is to inform about Millennial Cruises’ top 5 Caribbean cruise ports. The target audience includes spring breakers and those interested in Caribbean cruises. The communication channel used is the blog post itself.
